Arrests Made in Hicks Road Drive-By Shooting
Sheriff John Sawyer announces that deputies with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office have made two arrests in connection with the drive-by shooting that occurred on the 200 block of Hicks Road on March 31, 2026, at approximately 10:30 PM.
Within 48 hours of the incident, investigators identified and arrested Devion “DJ” Thomas and Dequavion Thomas, both of 84 Pine Forest Drive, Reynolds, Georgia.
Both individuals have been charged with:
• Six (6) counts of Aggravated Assault
• Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle
• Discharging a Firearm from a Roadway
• Reckless Conduct
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
This case is currently being investigated as a gang-related offense.
Sheriff Sawyer stated, “Thanks to the swift and dedicated work of our investigators, these dangerous individuals were taken into custody quickly. We will not tolerate this type of violent behavior in our community. This would not have been possible without the assistance of Chief Lonnie Holder and the Reynolds Police Department.”
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident, and only minor property damage occurred. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges or arrests may follow.
