For those who knew her in Chelsea, the news has brought shock and deep sorrow, as a life filled with love, relationships, and everyday moments was suddenly and violently taken away.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:02 a.m. on April 28, 2026, along Georgia Highway 99 in McIntosh County. Investigators say a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jamarius Davonte Sullivan, 30, of Smith Road, was traveling through a curve when it reportedly left the roadway.

Authorities allege the driver overcorrected while attempting to regain control, causing the vehicle to cross the centerline and collide head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Britteny Cruz, a passenger in the Silverado, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The collision also left multiple occupants in the other vehicle with serious injuries, who were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed that several people had to be extricated from the wreckage by emergency responders.

The driver of the Silverado was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide and several other traffic-related offenses, as the investigation continues.

As the Georgia State Patrol and its reconstruction team work to determine all contributing factors, the emotional impact has already reached Chelsea, where Britteny is being remembered by family and friends with love and heartbreak.

In her hometown, mourning has taken hold. Loved ones are holding onto memories of her presence, her life, and the moments that now feel even more meaningful in her absence. The distance has not lessened the pain, as grief stretches from Georgia back to Massachusetts.

Britteny Cruz is being remembered not only for the tragedy of how her life ended but for the life she lived—one that touched those around her and will continue to live on in memory.
