According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 5:53 p.m. along Lewiston Plank Road, about half a mile south of Lone Pine Road.
Investigators say Mahan was driving a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder northbound when the vehicle suddenly left the roadway under circumstances still being examined.
