Authorities say Dodds, the owner of Spy Depot Security Inc., was fatally shot on April 27 at approximately 8:35 a.m. inside a business near Kennedy Road and Matheson Boulevard in Mississauga. Police confirmed he was found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased shortly after. Investigators have described the shooting as targeted, and the case remains under active investigation.

A 70-year-old Thornhill man, Howard Brodsky, owner of a local jewelry business, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the incident. Police say Brodsky later returned to his home on King High Drive in Thornhill, where he contacted authorities around 10 a.m. Officers from York Regional Police and Peel Regional Police responded and surrounded the residence before taking him into custody without incident. He remains in custody following a court appearance in Brampton.

Investigators are also examining whether a prior dispute may be linked to the deadly encounter. Both men were reportedly named in a $90,000 civil lawsuit filed in December 2025, involving an alleged disagreement tied to jewelry products connected to a Thornhill business. Police are working to determine whether that legal conflict played a role in the fatal shooting.

Beyond the investigation, those who knew Sean are remembering him as more than the circumstances of his death. He is being honored as a man who built his life on responsibility, presence, and care for others.

Sean was, first and always, a family man. He was a devoted husband and a proud father who placed his loved ones at the center of everything he did. Those closest to him describe him as steady and dependable—someone who showed up without hesitation and made others feel safe simply by being there. In his home, he built a foundation of love, trust, and togetherness, cherishing both the everyday moments and the milestones that shaped his family’s life.

Beyond his family, Sean carried that same character into his friendships and professional life. He was known for checking in on others, listening without judgment, and offering help without expecting anything in return. People trusted him because they knew he was genuine, consistent, and always willing to stand by those who needed him.

In the Mississauga community, Sean stood out for his quiet generosity and steady presence. He did not seek recognition, but his actions spoke for him—whether offering guidance, lending support, or simply being there when it mattered most, he had a way of making people feel valued and seen.

His life leaves behind a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have through kindness, integrity, and care for others. That legacy now lives on through the many lives he touched, as family, friends, and community members come together in grief and remembrance.

Sean Dodds is remembered not only for how his life ended but for how he lived it—with love, strength, and a presence that will not be forgotten.
