Two men were killed in a tragic head-on collision Friday morning, according to Dearborn County Sheriff Shane J. McHenry.
Deputies were called just before 6:30 a.m. to the area of 13108 State Route 350 in Moores Hill for reports of a serious crash. When first responders arrived, they found both drivers deceased inside their vehicles.
CRASH DETAILS
Investigators say 27-year-old Cole Gaylord was driving westbound in a Hyundai Elantra on State Route 350 when he attempted to pass an empty school bus in a no-passing zone.
While in the eastbound lane, Gaylord’s vehicle collided head-on with a Chevy Trax driven by 38-year-old Kyle Inferrara, who was traveling in the opposite direction. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Deputy Craig Elliot of the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the crash.
The Indiana State Police reconstruction team assisted at the scene, and State Route 350 was closed for approximately three hours while authorities documented evidence and cleared the roadway.
The crash remains under active investigation as officials work to determine all contributing factors.
