The Biddeford community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of 52-year-old Michael Petersen, who was killed in a tragic head-on crash Friday morning in Saco.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:51 a.m. on Portland Road, when Petersen’s motorcycle crossed the center line while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer that was turning into a local business. The motorcycle then struck an oncoming SUV in a violent head-on impact.
Petersen was rushed to Maine Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead as medical staff attempted to save his life.
The driver of the SUV, a 53-year-old man from Saco, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
