The collision occurred at approximately 6:51 a.m. on Portland Road, when Petersen’s motorcycle crossed the center line while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer that was turning into a local business. The motorcycle then struck an oncoming SUV in a violent head-on impact.

Petersen was rushed to Maine Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead as medical staff attempted to save his life.

The driver of the SUV, a 53-year-old man from Saco, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

News of Petersen’s sudden passing has sent shockwaves through Biddeford and surrounding communities. Family, friends, and neighbors are now left grieving a life cut short without warning, remembering him as someone whose presence was familiar and meaningful to those who knew him.
