The Grand Isle community is in mourning following the tragic death of Drevon Mixon, 19, who was fatally shot Tuesday night in a mobile home park along LA-1.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:20 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 3100 block of LA-1. When officers arrived, they found Mixon suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between individuals who knew each other. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred in a campground area behind a local business and was not connected to the store or its operations.
The Grand Isle Supermarket issued a statement expressing condolences and clarifying the incident location, noting that it happened in the campground behind the store and does not reflect the environment they maintain for customers and campers. The business also said it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and extended prayers to all families affected.
As news of the tragedy spread, grief quickly took hold across the community. Loved ones are remembering Drevon Mixon as a young man whose life ended far too soon, leaving behind heartbreak, unanswered questions, and a deep sense of loss.
Family, friends, and neighbors are now coming together in mourning, supporting one another as they try to process the sudden and painful reality of his passing.
