Kenneth Johnson Found Dead: Missing Person Case Concludes with Tragic Discovery in Rural Lewistown Area

Authorities have confirmed the tragic discovery of a missing man after a coordinated search effort led to the recovery of a deceased individual in a wooded area near rural Lewistown.

In a joint press release from Sheriff Webb and Coroner Austin Rhodes, officials announced that the Fulton County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the deceased as Kenneth Johnson, 59, of Canton.

Johnson was located following a ground search approximately 500 yards north of where his vehicle had been parked, after he had previously been reported missing. The discovery brought a somber conclusion to an active search effort involving multiple agencies.

An autopsy was conducted on the day of recovery in Peoria County, and officials stated that routine toxicology testing is currently pending. At this time, investigators have indicated that no foul play is suspected in the case.

The investigation remains ongoing as the Fulton County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office continue to review the circumstances surrounding Johnson’s death and the timeline leading up to his disappearance.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search and recovery operation, including Canton Police, Lewistown Police, Farmington Police, Fulton County ESDA, Illinois Conservation Police, and Illinois State Police Air Operations, all working together during the coordinated effort.
