The Union community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Malek Shepherd, 23, of New York City, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at a Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union, New Jersey.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on April 11, when Union Police responded to reports of gunfire at the restaurant. Upon arrival, officers located seven victims at the scene. Malek, who was a customer at the time, was pronounced deceased on site. Six others were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
