CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Authorities are actively investigating a fatal shooting that took place Monday evening in a residential area of the county.
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Shady Creek Road at approximately 6:00 p.m. on April 13, 2026, following multiple emergency calls reporting gunfire in the vicinity.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite their response, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is known to the victim, suggesting the incident may not have been random. At this time, the suspect remains at large, and an active search is underway.
Police have secured the area and continue to process the scene as part of an ongoing investigation. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the suspect.
