The Pageland community is mourning the tragic loss of Daniel Omarion Carter, 23, who was fatally shot in Chesterfield County on the morning of April 13, 2026, in a violent incident that has left family, friends, and loved ones devastated.

According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:45 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the Pageland area. When first responders arrived, they located Carter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel immediately rendered aid and transported him for urgent medical treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, Carter later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred in the early morning hours and quickly launched a homicide investigation. Investigators worked swiftly to gather evidence from the scene and identify those responsible for the fatal shooting.

During the course of the investigation, law enforcement identified Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, of Pageland, originally from Monroe, North Carolina, as the suspect. Officials say evidence collected at the scene and through investigative leads led to the issuance of a murder warrant for Ivey. Authorities also determined that the suspect fled the area in a vehicle shortly after the shooting.

Chesterfield County investigators later alerted the Monroe Police Department, providing critical information about the suspect and the vehicle. Using Flock Safety License Plate Reader technology, Monroe officers located the vehicle at the Icemorlee Apartment Complex. Law enforcement units maintained surveillance while coordinating a safe response with additional agencies.

The Monroe Police Department Special Response Team, along with the Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, assisted in the operation. Around 12:00 p.m., officers approached the suspect while he was seated inside the vehicle and safely took him into custody without incident.

Ivey was arrested on the outstanding murder warrant from Chesterfield County, and officials indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater expressed condolences to the victim’s family, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Daniel Carter during this difficult time. We are committed to ensuring justice is served and holding those responsible accountable.”

The sheriff’s office also thanked assisting agencies for their quick coordination and support in locating and apprehending the suspect.

As the investigation remains active, the focus for many has shifted to remembering Daniel Carter’s life. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory continues to be cherished by family and friends who are now grieving an unimaginable loss.
