Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:20 a.m. on April 10, 2026, after Wichita Falls Communications received reports of a vehicle-involved bicyclist crash near the intersection of Seymour Highway and Denver Street.

When officers arrived, they located a man later identified as Larry Don Armstrong on the sidewalk with severe injuries. Officers immediately began life-saving measures until Wichita Falls Fire Department personnel and EMS arrived and took over medical treatment. Armstrong was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate Armstrong was riding a bicycle eastbound in the right lane of Seymour Highway when he was struck from behind by a 2019 Dodge pickup truck, also traveling in the same direction.

The driver told investigators he was watching a vehicle pass in the left lane and did not see the bicyclist ahead of him at the time of the collision. A witness at the scene reported seeing the pickup strike Armstrong, causing him to be thrown from the bicycle.

Authorities said the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Armstrong’s next of kin have been notified.

The Wichita Falls Police Department Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
