Police in Muskogee are actively searching for a suspect following a deadly shooting early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 4 a.m. in the 900 block of North K Street. Upon arrival, authorities found a man in a front yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Elio Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting occurred after a physical altercation inside a home between Hernandez and another individual. The suspect reportedly left the residence following the dispute, then returned a short time later and shot Hernandez while he was outside with several other people.
Police have identified the suspect as 42-year-old Jesus Garcia, who is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are actively working to locate Garcia and have released a photo as part of the search. Police urge anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts to call 911 immediately and warn the public not to approach him.
The investigation remains ongoing.
