The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that left 35-year-old Alisha Shanell Lewis dead Friday morning.
Just before 9:30 a.m. on March 27, officers responded to an apartment building in the 3100 block of High Glen Drive after a neighbor reported signs of a shooting. Lewis was found deceased inside her third-floor apartment. Authorities believe the shooting may have occurred the night before.
CMPD said a neighbor called 911 just after 11 p.m. on March 26 to report hearing gunshots in the area, though the location of the shots was unclear, and officers did not find anything suspicious at that time.
Lewis lived in the apartment with a family member who was not home at the time of the incident. CMPD has contacted the family to notify them of the tragedy.
A suspect has not been named, and the investigation remains ongoing. CMPD Major Koch is urging anyone with video footage—doorbell cameras or other surveillance—around the time of the shooting to contact authorities.
Anyone with information is asked to call CMPD at 704-432-8477 (TIPS) to speak with a homicide detective. Detective Trietley is the lead investigator on the case. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Charlotte Crime Stoppers by calling 704-334-1600.
CMPD says the investigation is active, and further details will be released as they become available
