A 3-year-old girl named Paisley Brown died in February after what authorities say was severe abuse while she was left at home with her mother’s boyfriend in Marion County, Florida. Deputies arrested the mom, Jennifer Farrah Kendrick, 26, days later on child neglect charges that got upgraded to aggravated manslaughter of a child. Kendrick’s boyfriend, Jeroen Jarrel Coombs, 32, was watching Paisley on February 19, 2026. He called her mom around 10:58 a.m. to say the little girl was unresponsive, but waited about 40 minutes before dialing 911, deputies reported. Coombs later admitted to investigators that he bound Paisley’s legs together with painter’s tape from her thighs to her ankles and tied her hands with a bathrobe belt as punishment for reaching into her diaper. He also told detectives he accidentally dropped her from a playpen and punched her in the chest three times. Paisley was rushed to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Coombs was arrested right away on aggravated child abuse charges. Those were later bumped up to homicide, and recent court records show he now faces murder charges after a grand jury indictment. He remains in the Marion County Jail without bond. Kendrick was taken into custody on two counts of felony child neglect. Detectives say she initially denied knowing about any abuse but later admitted she was aware Coombs had tied up and hurt Paisley before. She acknowledged she didn’t step in to protect her daughter. Her charges were upgraded to aggravated manslaughter on March 13th.
