💔 Please leave: Ex-boyfriend shot the mother of his child dead as she begged him to go away after he climbed onto the apartment balcony wearing a mask
She did everything she was told to do.
She had an order of protection.
She called 911.
She begged him to go away.
It still wasn’t enough.
Police say Jordin Miranda Castillo, just 20 years old and a young mother, was inside a third-floor apartment in Glendale in June 2023 when her ex-boyfriend, Rueben Rocha, showed up uninvited.
He didn’t knock.
Investigators say Rocha climbed onto her balcony wearing all black, a hoodie, and a face mask, then kicked in the glass door as Jordin screamed for him to leave. Inside the apartment were Jordin, two friends, and her 2-year-old child.
On the 911 call, Jordin can be heard yelling
“I have an order of protection!”
“You’re going to get arrested!”
“Please leave!”
Seconds later, police say Rocha pulled out a gun and started shooting into the apartment.
Jordin was shot and killed.
Two of her friends were also shot but survived.
During the chaos, one woman grabbed Jordin’s toddler and hid with the child in a bathroom as bullets flew.
Police said the attack was sparked by a dispute on social media. There were no prior police reports of domestic violence on record, despite the active order of protection.
Rocha fled the scene but later turned himself in.
This week, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and disorderly conduct. He now faces life-altering consequences of his own and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 20.
Jordin’s family says she was strong, independent, and deeply devoted to her child.
“She was so incredible,” her loved ones said. “And her baby girl will always know who her mother was.”
A young mother is gone.
A child will grow up without her.
And once again, an order of protection did not stop a bullet.
She begged him to leave.
He chose violence.
🕯️ Rest in peace, Jordin Miranda Castillo
