Four Arrested in Fatal Canton Apartment Shooting That Killed 20-Year-Old Ta’Shaun M. Smith

According to recent reports, four suspects have been arrested following the fatal shooting of Ta’Shaun M. Smith, a 20-year-old from Massillon, on the evening of Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The incident occurred at the Skyline Terrace Apartments in the 600 block of Alan Page Drive SE in Canton.
Responding to 911 calls around 5:25 p.m., officers found Smith with a gunshot wound and he was later pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting:
Niko M. Marshall (18, of Canton): Charged with murder, felonious assault, and having weapons under disability.
Nathaniel M. Sanford (33, of Sherrodsville, Carroll County): Charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
De Iveon J. Newman (19, of Massillon): Charged with receiving stolen property.
Kymani S. James (20, of Massillon): Charged with tampering with evidence.
