A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found fatally shot late Tuesday night at Oxon Run Community Park in Temple Hills, leaving investigators searching for answers and a community shaken by the sudden violence.
According to the Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were called to the park at approximately 10:20 p.m. after a report of an unresponsive woman in the area.
When officers arrived, they located a 38-year-old Washington, D.C. woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as Juanita Frazier.
The scene was secured overnight as detectives with the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Authorities are now working to determine what led to the shooting, including how the victim came to be in the park and whether any suspects were involved.
At this time, police have not released information about a possible motive or suspect, and no arrests have been made. Investigators say the case remains active and ongoing as they continue gathering evidence and reviewing all available leads.
The park, normally a public space used by the community, became the focus of a major police response as investigators processed the scene into the night.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
