What began as a quiet early Wednesday morning turned into a tragedy that has left an entire town shaken. For those who knew Elizabeth, the news has been almost impossible to accept—one moment she was here, and the next she was gone, leaving behind painful silence and unanswered questions.

According to the Walker Police Department, the fatal crash happened at approximately 2:25 a.m. as Elizabeth was attempting to merge onto I-12 westbound from the Walker entrance ramp. Investigators said she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and slam into a light pole with extreme force.

Emergency crews responded quickly and found the scene severe. Elizabeth was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where doctors fought to save her life. Despite those efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries, turning the crash into a devastating loss for her family and everyone who loved her.

Authorities confirmed Elizabeth was the only person inside the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

Walker Police Chief Addison addressed the tragedy, offering condolences to the family and acknowledging the pain that comes with losing someone so young.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ms. Woodruff,” Chief Addison said. “Any time someone is killed in a car accident, it’s a tragedy. That’s particularly true when the victim is a young person with their whole life in front of them.”

Back in Ponchatoula, the heartbreak is deep. A young woman with a future ahead of her is now gone, and those closest to her are left trying to navigate an unimaginable reality. Friends are remembering her smile, her spirit, and the moments they once shared—moments that now feel even more precious and painful.

Her death is not only a tragic crash report but also a reminder of how fragile life truly is and how quickly a simple drive can turn into a life-ending event. The pain left behind will not fade easily, and her absence will be felt in the lives of those who loved her most.

Investigators are continuing to determine what caused Elizabeth to lose control of her vehicle. The crash remains under investigation as her community mourns a life taken far too soon.
