A U.S. Postal Service worker was tragically killed Monday evening in a crash in DeKalb County, leaving colleagues, family, and the wider community in mourning.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:11 p.m. to a collision at the intersection of Larkspur Terrace and Iris Lane. When they arrived, they discovered a U.S. Postal Service vehicle overturned on its side at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that a driver turning from Iris Lane onto Larkspur Terrace struck the postal vehicle, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the postal vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was later identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office as 40-year-old Tinisha Cade.

Her sudden death has left coworkers and loved ones devastated, as they remember her dedication and service as part of the postal community. What began as a routine workday ended in tragedy, sending shock and grief through those who knew her.

In a statement, the U.S. Postal Service expressed deep sorrow over the loss, saying it is “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a postal family member” and extended heartfelt condolences to Cade’s family, friends, and colleagues. The agency also confirmed that counseling services will be made available to employees at the Decatur Main Post Office during this difficult time.

The crash scene remained under investigation as authorities worked to determine all contributing factors surrounding the collision. Officials have not released further details as the investigation continues.

Tinisha Cade is being remembered as a dedicated worker whose life was cut short far too soon, leaving behind a profound sense of loss and mourning across the community.
