The crash happened at approximately 1:22 p.m. on Farmers Road near Murphy Road, a rural two-lane roadway surrounded by farmland and private driveways.

Investigators say a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, driven by Orlando Beverly, 71, of Wilmington, was pulling onto Farmers Road from a private driveway when it failed to yield the right of way. At that time, Pagett was traveling southeast on a 2003 Yamaha XVS650C motorcycle and collided with the vehicle.

The impact threw Pagett from the motorcycle, causing critical injuries. Emergency crews with CareFlight transported him to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the minivan sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Officials confirmed he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Authorities also stated that Pagett was not wearing a helmet.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Fire and EMS, the Clinton County Coroner’s Office, and B&G Automotive. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation, and no charges have been announced.

Farmers Road is a rural route where private driveways directly connect to through traffic, often creating limited visibility and sudden merging situations. Officials say failure to yield at rural intersections remains a common cause of serious crashes in Ohio.

Clinton County sits in southwest Ohio between Cincinnati and Columbus, while Lynchburg, where Pagett lived, is located just southeast of the crash site in nearby Highland County.

Joshua Pagett’s passing has left family and friends mourning a sudden and devastating loss on a quiet rural roadway.
