The Hartford community is mourning the loss of Keishla Claudio, 33, whose life was tragically cut short in what police are investigating as a domestic-related homicide. Claudio, born February 9, 1993, was found deceased inside her home at 62 Belden Street on Friday evening, April 24, 2026. Authorities confirmed she suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Police responded after a relative grew concerned when unable to reach her. Detectives later identified a person of interest, who was subsequently discovered deceased out of state from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes Division continues to investigate.
Claudio was remembered by family and friends as a devoted mother of two children, ages 7 and 10, and a hardworking certified nursing assistant at a local elder care facility. Loved ones described her as selfless, compassionate, and dedicated to her family. “She lit up every room she walked into,” said her cousin, Marisol Vega. “She worked tirelessly to give her kids a better life. She loved them more than anything.”
Neighbors recalled Claudio’s generosity and community spirit. She organized summer block parties, checked in on elderly residents, and was known for her kindness. “She didn’t deserve this,” said neighbor Delia Rodriguez. “Just days ago, I saw her laughing with her daughter on the swing. She seemed so happy.”
Friends acknowledged Claudio had faced challenges in a recent relationship, noting she had expressed fear and a desire to move forward. Her death has left loved ones grappling with grief and unanswered questions.
The homicide has shaken Hartford’s South End, a quiet residential neighborhood where Claudio’s presence was a source of warmth and connection. As investigators continue their work, the community remembers her as a loving mother, friend, and neighbor whose legacy of care will endure.
