Eight children have been killed in a mass shooting that began as a domestic dispute in northwest Louisiana, authorities said.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, the victims range in age from 18 months to 15 years old. The deadly violence unfolded across multiple locations, police said.
Officers say the shooting began as a domestic dispute in the W. 79th Street area of Shreveport. As the suspect attempted to flee the scene, additional gunfire occurred at two more locations — one on Harrison Street in Shreveport and another in Bossier Parish on Brompton Lane.
Two women were also shot in the head during the incident but survived their injuries. In addition, a young boy was injured after jumping from a roof while trying to escape the violence. The conditions of those victims remain unknown at this time.
Shreveport police said the suspect left the Shreveport area and was later engaged by law enforcement in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, where he was shot. The suspect is dead, according to the Bossier Police Department.
Officials confirmed there were three related shooting scenes connected to the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing, and police continue to work to understand the full circumstances and timeline of events.
