The Henrico community is mourning the loss of Dominic Lisanti, an 88-year-old local resident who tragically passed away after being struck by a county vehicle along West Broad Street earlier this week.
According to Henrico Police, the crash happened on Monday, April 20, near the intersection of Coppermill Trace and W. Broad Street. Investigators said Lisanti was in the eastbound lanes of West Broad Street when he was hit by a Henrico County vehicle operated by a county employee just east of the intersection.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and Lisanti was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, police confirmed he later succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, April 21.
Authorities stated that their preliminary investigation indicates that speed and alcohol are not believed to have been contributing factors in the crash. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators.
At this time, officials said no charges have been filed, based on the information currently available. The investigation remains active as police continue reviewing the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision.
