Authorities reported that deputies with the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence following concerns of a serious incident and requested assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC). Upon arrival, law enforcement located two female victims deceased inside the home from apparent gunshot wounds. Both women were pronounced deceased at the scene, leaving behind a heartbreaking loss for their families and the community.

Their passing has left an overwhelming sense of grief in Nodaway County, as loved ones struggle to comprehend how quickly lives can be taken away. Karen Babcock and Liberty Ann Moore are being remembered for the lives they lived, the relationships they built, and the memories they leave behind for family and friends who now mourn their absence.

Following the incident, a person of interest was taken into custody at the scene. On April 19, 2026, 20-year-old Keevin J. Maupin of Skidmore, Missouri, was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action and is being held without bond as the investigation continues.
