Authorities say Gee was shot late Saturday night, just before midnight on April 18, 2026, in the parking lot of the Wavaho gas station in the 100 block of Third Avenue North, across from the Elyton Village public housing community. Birmingham police responded after multiple 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert detecting at least a dozen gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, Gee was found wounded in the parking lot. He was transported by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to UAB Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 12:23 a.m.

Investigators say a verbal argument involving multiple individuals in the parking lot escalated into gunfire, during which Gee was struck. At this time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
