According to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, officers responded to the area of Midland Parkway after reports of a disturbance involving a vehicle. When authorities arrived, they discovered Ma’Davion in the backseat of a car suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:37 p.m.
Investigators determined that the shooting occurred earlier at John McKissick Stadium. Police later located the vehicle during a traffic stop in the Midland Parkway area, where the victim was found.
Authorities said a juvenile suspect was taken into custody and, during questioning, admitted to possessing a PSA Dagger 9mm handgun while seated in the driver’s seat and firing into the backseat where Ma’Davion was located. A witness in the front passenger seat reportedly confirmed the suspect’s account, according to police.
The suspect has been charged with murder, with bond denied. Additional charges include possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession and transfer of a handgun, and possession of a stolen firearm, with bond set on the additional charges.
The Summerville Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with assistance from other agencies as they work to piece together the events that led to this tragedy.
