A fatal police shooting occurred outside a Walmart in Omaha after officers responded to reports of a woman armed with a knife who had injured a young child.
According to the Omaha Police Department, the suspect, identified as Noemi Guzman, allegedly stole a kitchen knife inside the store and confronted a child seated in a shopping cart outside the store.
Police say the woman refused commands to drop the weapon and slashed the 3-year-old boy before officers opened fire, striking her.

The suspect allegedly threatened a child and guardian
The situation moved from inside the store to the parking lot
Officers issued repeated commands to drop the weapon
The suspect injured the child before being shot by police
The child was taken to hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening and was reunited with a guardian.
