The Big Laurel community is mourning the tragic loss of Bobbie Boggs, 82, who was killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Perry County.
Authorities said the crash occurred on April 13, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in the Slemp community on Old Beech Fork Road. Kentucky State Police troopers from Post 13 in Hazard were requested by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to assist with crash reconstruction and investigation.
According to officials, a black Ford F-250 traveling along Old Beech Fork Road failed to negotiate a steep curve, crossed the center line, and struck a white Ford Explorer driven by Boggs.
The Perry County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Bobbie Boggs was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Her body was later transported to the Kentucky Office of the State Medical Examiner in Frankfort, where an autopsy and toxicology testing are pending.
Investigators confirmed that seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford F-250 and two passengers were transported to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
