3-Year-Old Shot in the Head Inside South Philly Home
PHILADELPHIA — A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot inside his home in South Philadelphia late Wednesday night.
Police say the incident happened around 11 p.m. at the Wilson Park Apartments near 26th and Snyder.
Family members rushed the child to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Investigators say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear and under investigation.
Initially, police were told the shooting may have been accidental, but officials now say there are conflicting accounts from family members, raising concerns.
Detectives transported multiple individuals to police headquarters for questioning as they work to determine exactly what happened.
Police also say they did not immediately locate a firearm at the scene and are awaiting a search warrant to continue processing the home.
