The Jacksonville community is mourning the tragic loss of Nelly Wilson, who was killed in a devastating crash early Monday morning on I-295 southbound near Wilson Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 3 a.m. when Wilson’s SUV left the roadway for reasons still under investigation, struck several trees, and re-entered the highway before coming to rest on a guardrail. Authorities said Wilson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and then struck by at least two passing vehicles. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His sudden and violent passing has left family, friends, and loved ones in deep sorrow as they struggle to process the heartbreaking loss. Those who knew Nelly are remembering him as a valued life taken far too soon in a tragic and unexpected moment.
The crash also led to a full closure of southbound I-295 near Wilson Boulevard for several hours as investigators worked the scene and conducted a detailed reconstruction of the incident.
As authorities continue their investigation, loved ones are focusing on remembering Nelly’s life and the memories they shared with him, rather than the circumstances of the crash.
May Nelly Wilson rest in peace, and may his family and friends find strength, comfort, and healing in the difficult days ahead.
