The Nitro, West Virginia, community is grieving after a heartbreaking act of violence took the life of Misty Rose Williams, 40, who was found shot and killed inside her vehicle at the Walmart Nitro Marketplace parking lot.

According to authorities, deputies were called to the scene Monday morning after coworkers requested a welfare check. Williams, a Walmart employee, reportedly failed to return from her break, causing immediate concern among those who worked alongside her. When officers arrived, they found her unresponsive inside her car. Investigators say deputies broke a rear window to gain access, and once inside, they discovered she had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

Tragically, Misty was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement identified Eric Dewayne Richmond, 54, as the suspect. Officials stated that Richmond, who shares children with Williams, was taken into custody and has been charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities have indicated the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no continued threat to the public. However, the case remains under active investigation as officials continue working to uncover all details surrounding the tragic events.
Misty Rose Williams is now being remembered as a hardworking woman whose life was cut short far too soon. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and the entire community heartbroken, as they struggle to process the loss of someone who should still be here today.
May Misty rest in peace, and may her loved ones find strength during this painful time.
