A heartbreaking outcome has brought sadness to the Youngstown community after Brian Carney, 64, was found deceased in Mill Creek Park following a missing persons search that began last weekend.

According to Youngstown Police, Carney was reported missing after he walked away from his residence on Winona Avenue around 8:45 p.m. last Saturday. A missing adult alert was issued as officers and detectives began coordinated search efforts to locate him.

Police conducted extensive searches throughout the area, including a drone-assisted sweep of the 800 block of Winona Drive, along with patrol and detective ground searches conducted during daylight hours. Despite these efforts, Carney was later found deceased near East Glacier Drive in Mill Creek Park.

Authorities said that no foul play is suspected in his death. The case has been turned over to the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office for further evaluation.

What began as a community-wide search ended in sorrow, leaving family, friends, and residents grieving a sudden and difficult loss. Mill Creek Park, often a place of peace and reflection, has now become the center of a tragic discovery.
