The Alexandria community is mourning the tragic passing of Natalie Phillips, 66, who died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Richland Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, the crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. when a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling west veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Phillips, who was the front-seat passenger and properly restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries. Toxicology samples were collected as part of the ongoing investigation, which remains active.
Natalie Phillips was a cherished member of Alexandria. Those who knew her recall her warmth, her kindness, and the joy she brought to family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her sudden and tragic passing leaves a profound void in the community, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Troopers reminded motorists of the importance of safe driving, emphasizing that being impaired, distracted, or fatigued can have devastating consequences. Louisiana law also requires all passengers to remain properly restrained, which can reduce injuries in crashes, although not all accidents are survivable.
Although her life was tragically cut short, Natalie’s presence and spirit will be remembered by the Alexandria community. Her life serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
