Carolyn was born on November 12, 1942, to H.L. and Marie Fisher in Little Rock, where she spent her formative years surrounded by family, friends, and a community that shaped her lifelong love for learning and service.

Carolyn graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a degree in Education, embarking on a career dedicated to nurturing and inspiring young minds. Her passion for teaching became evident early, and she spent ten meaningful years at Castleton United Methodist Church as a nursery school teacher. There, she not only educated children but also shared her warmth and kindness, instilling values of empathy, curiosity, and joy in her students. Carolyn also contributed to her church community through singing in the choir and volunteering at annual events, including the beloved fish fry, where her enthusiasm and generosity left a lasting impression on all who attended.

In Little Rock, Carolyn met her life partner, James Waddington, and the couple married on June 13, 1964. Together, they built a family grounded in love, faith, and support. Carolyn was a devoted mother to her two sons, James Hugh Waddington (Jodi) and Justin Heath Waddington (Leyla), always putting her family at the center of her life. She celebrated their accomplishments, offered guidance through challenges, and provided unwavering support that shaped their lives profoundly. Carolyn’s love extended to her grandchildren, Jocie and Jolee Waddington, who were the light of her later years. She cherished every moment spent with them, from family dinners to quiet afternoons filled with stories and laughter.

Beyond her role as a mother and grandmother, Carolyn worked at Affiliated Foods of Little Rock from 1999 until 2010 as a receptionist, where her professionalism, friendly demeanor, and welcoming nature made her a beloved colleague. Even after retirement, she remained active in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a meal with neighbors and friends. Her culinary talents were legendary; those fortunate enough to enjoy one of her home-cooked meals knew her not only as a skilled cook but as a generous and thoughtful host who made every guest feel valued.

Carolyn is remembered for her kind heart, her laughter, and her ability to make every person feel seen and appreciated. She lived a life of quiet strength, humility, and compassion, leaving a profound impact on her family, friends, colleagues, and students alike. Her legacy is one of love, service, and dedication—a life that touched countless hearts and inspired others to live with kindness and purpose.

She is preceded in death by her parents, H.L. and Marie Fisher. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, James Waddington, her sons James Hugh and Justin Heath Waddington, her daughter-in-law Jodi, her grandchildren Jocie and Jolee, and many dear friends and neighbors who cherished her presence and friendship.
