The Opelika community is mourning the tragic loss of Alisa Patton, 38, who was fatally shot on the morning of March 25, 2026, at Arbor Place Apartments on Fox Run Parkway. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and the community grappling with grief and loss.
According to authorities, Opelika Police responded to reports of an active shooter at approximately 10:56 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Alisa suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m. by Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton.
Authorities acted swiftly following the shooting. Marc John Love, 27, was taken into custody at the scene by an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state trooper who was nearby when the shots were reported. Love was initially charged with murder, a charge later elevated to capital murder due to the circumstances involving a person inside a vehicle. He also faces charges related to prohibited possession of a firearm.
Alisa is remembered by those who knew her as a kind, compassionate, and vibrant individual. She brought warmth and positivity to the lives of family, friends, and neighbors. Her laughter, generosity, and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
