The Yough School District is mourning the devastating loss of four high school students who were killed in a fiery crash early Saturday morning in Westmoreland County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash was reported just before 3:30 a.m. near Creek Road. Investigators said the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and became engulfed in flames.
The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 15-year-old Brady Hunker, 18-year-old Rocco Zugai, 15-year-old Felicity Martini, and 16-year-old Kylee Korber. Their deaths have left classmates, teachers, and families heartbroken.
Throughout Saturday, dozens of teenagers gathered at the crash site, leaving behind flowers, candles, and photos in a growing memorial. Many came fearing the victims were their friends, while others arrived to grieve and support one another.
“I’m just very emotional,” said high school sophomore Cash Mitchell. “It’s just really upsetting that this has to happen.”
Friends embraced at the scene, sharing memories of those lost. “She was funny; she was always happy,” said student Aubree Paul. “She always put a smile on my face.” Another friend, Miley Kuester, described a close bond, saying, “No matter what, if there was a hard time, we came together.”
Remnants of the crash, including a Kia emblem and debris believed to be part of the vehicle, remained at the site as a somber reminder of the tragedy.
In a statement released Sunday, the Yough School District said classes would resume Monday to provide students with support during this difficult time. Additional counselors and staff will be available to help those coping with grief. “We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out,” the district said, adding that it will continue to respond with compassion and care.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 724-832-3288.
