A member of the Barnstable County Police Academy Class of 1979—the “Fightin’ 47th”—Bob began his career alongside fellow officers, including Chief Frank Frederickson and Peter Horigan. From his early days at Harwich PD to his tenure with the Massachusetts State Police, Bob’s dedication never wavered. He rose through the ranks to Lieutenant and Station Commander, handling some of the most challenging cases, from homicide to computer crimes, with professionalism, quiet strength, and steadfast commitment. A true “cop’s cop,” he never sought the spotlight—he simply did his job, and he did it right.

Beyond his service, Bob was a devoted family man. His love for Elizabeth, his children, and grandchildren was evident in every conversation, every smile, and every story he shared. His greatest accomplishments were not the cases he solved, but the family he nurtured, the friendships he cherished, and the guidance he offered to others.

Even in retirement, Bob continued to give back, teaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of law enforcement officers. His dedication to service and leadership extended far beyond his badge, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

For those who called him a friend, colleague, or brother in blue, Bob Knott will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, wisdom, and the countless moments of camaraderie that defined a life lived with purpose and integrity. His legacy is one of honor, devotion, and love—both on and off the job.

Rest easy, Bob. Your service, your friendship, and your unwavering loyalty will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elizabeth, Robert, Sarah, and the entire Knott family during this difficult time.
