According to FHP, the incident happened at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Tracer Trail. The UTV, traveling west on the property, lost control and overturned onto its left side. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Thankfully, the passenger escaped the accident without injury. Authorities noted that while the passenger survived, the event highlights the unpredictable and potentially deadly nature of UTV incidents, even when safety precautions are believed to be in place.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with authorities looking into factors such as terrain conditions, vehicle speed, and potential operator error. While UTVs provide recreational enjoyment and utility purposes, the Florida Highway Patrol emphasizes the importance of strict safety measures, including wearing seat belts, helmets, and adhering to proper operating practices.

This heartbreaking loss has left the local community mourning, as family and friends cope with the sudden death of a loved one. Nassau County officials and emergency personnel are providing support to those affected and continuing to review the incident to prevent similar tragedies.
