THE MURDER OF DOMONIC DAVIS
Cincinnati, Ohio — November 3, 2023
Domonic Davis was 11 years old.
On the night of November 3, 2023, children were gathered outside in Cincinnati’s West End, near the intersection of Jones Street and Wade Street. It was the kind of evening where kids linger outside a little longer — talking, laughing, and playing together.
Then a car drove by.
Witnesses say a dark sedan slowed as it passed the group.
Suddenly, gunfire erupted.
Investigators say 22 rounds were fired in quick succession, tearing through the area where the children were standing.
When the gunfire stopped, chaos followed.
Children ran.
Neighbors rushed outside.
Somebody had been hit.
Domonic Davis, just 11 years old, had been shot.
Five other people were also wounded — four children between the ages of 12 and 15, along with a 53-year-old woman. All survived their injuries.
Domonic did not.
Police later said they do not believe the children were the intended targets. Investigators believe the shooting may have been retaliation connected to an earlier incident.
Domonic was simply caught in the middle.
His family believes the violence surrounding the case did not end that night. In October 2024, Domonic’s father, Isaac Davis, survived a separate shooting. He believes the two incidents may be connected.
Despite the violence, the person responsible for Domonic’s murder has never been arrested.
Community members have spoken publicly about a suspected individual known locally as a “killer man,” but investigators say they do not yet have enough evidence to make an arrest.
Federal authorities have joined the investigation.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) increased the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction from $5,000 to $7,500 in July 2025.
Domonic’s family has asked for federal prosecution, believing the rapid burst of gunfire may indicate a weapon illegally modified with a device such as a “Glock switch.” However, investigators have said there has not yet been a confirmed federal nexus allowing the case to be taken over federally.
Through grief, Domonic’s family has worked to make sure his name is never forgotten.
In December 2024, on what would have been his 13th birthday, the City of Cincinnati dedicated a portion of Linn Street near Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy as “Domonic Davis Way.”
His family is also creating a nonprofit organization called “Forever 11,” meant to support other families devastated by similar violence.
Because Domonic Davis will always remain 11 years old.
More than two years later, the murder of DOMONIC DAVIS remains unsolved.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Cincinnati Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
Twenty-two shots.
A group of children.
One life taken.
And a family still waiting for justice.
