The community of Richmond is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gabriel James Holloway, a bright and loving 10-year-old whose life, though far too short, touched many hearts. Gabriel passed away on March 3, 2026, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, leaving behind family, friends, and a community that will forever remember his gentle spirit and joyful personality.
Born on November 13, 2015, in North Kansas City, Gabriel was the beloved son of Timothy James “TJ” Holloway and Jennifer Marie (Sykes) Holloway. From the very beginning, he brought warmth and happiness to those around him. His family remembers him as a smart, funny boy with a heart full of love and a personality that could brighten even the quietest day.
Gabriel had many interests that made his world colorful and exciting. He loved dinosaurs, dragons, animals, and fishing, and he enjoyed spending time exploring these passions in his own unique way. His favorite colors were blue, green, and red, and he found joy in the simple things—playing games on his tablet, watching movies, reading books, and playing with his toys. Gabriel was autistic and had ADD, and those who knew him understood that he moved through life at his own pace, bringing calmness and authenticity to every moment. When something truly excited him, he would laugh in a way his loved ones described as sounding like a dolphin—a joyful sound that became one of the many memories they now hold dear.
Despite his young age, Gabriel had big dreams. He hoped one day to travel to places like China and Hawaii. He also dreamed of becoming a missionary and an animal rescuer, a reflection of the kindness and compassion that already lived in his heart.
Even in passing, Gabriel continued to help others. Through organ donation, he saved three lives, leaving behind a powerful legacy of generosity and hope. His story will continue to inspire others, reminding the community of the incredible impact one young life can have.
Gabriel is survived by his parents, TJ and Jennifer Holloway; his sister, Julia Holloway; several aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and extended family members who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his brother Orion Holloway, his sister Angelina Holloway, and his paternal grandmother Margaret Holloway
