Christopher Gillespey, 37, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2026, following a tragic shooting incident outside his residence. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning a life lost too soon.
According to authorities, officers with the Killeen Police Department responded to a 911 call around 9:12 a.m. reporting a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1700 block of North Gray Street. When officers arrived, they discovered Gillespey unconscious outside the residence. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and confirmed that he showed no signs of life.
Officials later determined that Gillespey had been inside his home when the shooting occurred. Investigators believe he exited the residence after being shot and collapsed outside, where he was later found by responding officers.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced Gillespey dead at approximately 9:25 a.m. An autopsy was ordered and will be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences as part of the official investigation.
The Killeen Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Robbery-Homicide Unit, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives have asked residents and businesses in the surrounding area to review any available surveillance footage that may help identify individuals who were nearby around the time of the incident.
