Kentucky State Police are investigating a head-on collision that claimed the life of a 41-year-old man early Friday morning on Lebanon Road in Boyle County.
Authorities say officers responded to the two-vehicle crash around 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of Alum Springs Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that a Cadillac SRX traveling westbound crossed the centerline and collided with a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Cadillac, Frankie Simpson, 41, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the Boyle County coroner. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was also taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Kentucky State Police say the collision remains under investigation and the scene is being reconstructed to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
