Pentagon Identifies Last Two Soldiers Killed in Kuwait Attack, Including Iowa Native
The Pentagon has released the names of the final two soldiers among six who were tragically killed during an unmanned aircraft system attack in Kuwait on March 1. The soldiers, all assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa, were honored for their bravery and sacrifice.

The newly identified soldiers are Maj. Jeffery O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California. Previously, the Pentagon had confirmed the deaths of four other Army Reserve members: Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds expressed her condolences, stating, “Our hearts are broken by the deaths of Major Jeffrey O’Brien and Sergeant Declan Coady, two brave Iowa soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice to secure freedom and peace.”

Senator Chuck Grassley also paid tribute, saying, “Maj. O’Brien’s heroism will be remembered forever, along with his fellow fallen soldier and Iowan, Sgt. Declan Coady. Our prayers are with Iowa’s grieving Gold Star Families.”

The tragic attack underscores the continued risks faced by U.S. military personnel abroad and the courage of those serving to protect freedom and peace.
