A. Pelilu Wines Killed in Jefferson County Crash Involving Jefferson Transit Bus
The Jefferson County, Washington community is mourning the tragic loss of 17-year-old A. Pelilu Wines of Poulsbo, who was killed Tuesday evening in a devastating three-vehicle crash involving a Jefferson Transit bus.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred just before 7 p.m. on State Route 104 near milepost 9. Troopers reported that Wines’ westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Jefferson Transit bus head-on. A second westbound vehicle then collided with the bus, intensifying the severity of the crash. Wines was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several others were injured in the accident. Christopher Fiorini, 41, and Elizabeth Fiorini, 68, both of Sequim, were transported to Jefferson Healthcare for treatment. The bus driver, Michael Berrett, 62, of Port Townsend, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. One passenger aboard the bus was not injured.
At just 17 years old, A. Pelilu Wines’ life was tragically cut short. Family, friends, and the broader Jefferson County community are grieving the sudden loss of a young life filled with promise. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and it has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
Wines will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved them as the community comes together in support during this heartbreaking time.
