In the deepest sorrow, we share the passing of sweet Emmett Bastion Burrell, who returned to his Heavenly Father on July 7, 2023, at just two years old. Emmett was born on March 30, 2021, in Murray, Utah, United States, weighing 10 pounds 2 ounces and measuring 22 inches long. From the very beginning, he arrived with a presence that filled every room and every heart. Though his time was short, the impact he made on those around him was profound and lasting.
Emmett was full of curiosity and joy, an adventurous little boy who loved being outside in Spanish Fork, Utah, United States. He enjoyed walks, playground trips, scooters, chalk drawings, and getting happily covered in dirt. One of his favorite places in the world was the football field, where he followed his dad to practice. There, Emmett made it his personal mission to grab a football, race to the end zone, and score his daily touchdown, even if it meant sneaking under fences to do it.
Family was the center of Emmett’s world. He adored his big sister, Harper, and each morning began with him running down the hallway to see his “sissy.” They played for hours together, whether that meant superhero adventures or dressing up in princess outfits. Emmett also loved Spider-Man, the Avengers, Paw Patrol, Halloween themes, and listening to stories and music on his Tonie box. His bright smile, warm hugs, and pure happiness lifted everyone around him.
Emmett Bastion Burrell will always be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the light he brought into every life he touched. He is survived by his parents, Lance and Caitlyn Burrell, of Spanish Fork, Utah, United States; his sister Harper; his grandparents Kyle and Teresa Hansen and William and Melissa Burrell; and many extended family members and friends. The gratitude of his family extends to the community of Spanish Fork, Utah, United States, including first responders, school staff, volunteers, and all who offered love, prayers, and support. Emmett’s life, though brief, will forever be cherished and remembered.
