Detroit, MI – The Detroit Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a non-fatal shooting that left a young man in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 3, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m. near the intersection of Puritan Avenue and Prevost Street in Detroit. Investigators say the suspect fired multiple shots into a vehicle occupied by a male in his 20s.
The victim was struck and critically wounded. At the time of the shooting, three children — ages 10 years old, 1 year old, and 7 months old — were also inside the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that none of the children were injured in the gunfire.
Despite his injuries, the victim was able to drive to a nearby business located in the 15800 block of West McNichols Road, where emergency medical personnel responded. He was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
The case is being investigated by the department’s Organized Crime Division. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the victim was specifically targeted.
Police have released an image of the suspect and are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about the incident to come forward.
