A 34-year-old Alexandria man was shot and killed in the parking lot of Potomac Mills on the evening of February 24, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 7:09 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the shopping center. When they arrived, they found the victim, identified as Baffour Asare Gundona, suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined the shooting occurred during an altercation inside a vehicle in the parking lot.
Authorities said Gundona exited the vehicle after being shot and collapsed nearby. Officers immediately rendered first aid until rescue personnel arrived. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect fled the scene in a separate vehicle and remains at large. Detectives are actively investigating the case as a homicide. Police stated that the shooting does not appear to be random.
