Authorities have identified the man who died in a tragic grain bin accident in Harvey County, Kansas.
According to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was Mark Klaassen, a 37-year-old resident of Newton, Kansas.
The incident occurred Saturday on a farm located near Spencer Road and Southeast 24th Street, southeast of Newton. Officials said Klaassen and two other men were inside a grain bin moving soybeans when the grain suddenly shifted. The shifting soybeans trapped and injured Klaassen.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Klaassen was pronounced deceased there. The two other men involved in the incident declined medical treatment.
Authorities have not released additional details as the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under review.
