A 48-year-old man was shot and killed late Friday night in Dallas, and a 19-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the homicide, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around midnight Saturday to the 120 block of Bridges Street after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they located Michael Ellegde suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Isaac Amaya. Authorities say he was taken into custody and booked into the Dallas County Jail early Saturday morning. As of Saturday evening, no bond had been set.
Investigators have not yet released details about what may have led to the shooting or whether the suspect and victim knew each other. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage from the area.
